Call for Papers

We are pleased  to announce that original research papers are being accepted for consideration for publication in Volume I (for 2024) of the Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman Science and Technology University Law Journal (Journal of Law (JL) ISSN: 3007-7338). The Faculty of Law is expected to publish the Journal with the goal of encouraging the publication of practical research in a variety of legal fields, including contemporary legal concerns and other related fields. The Journal will also examine research papers on multidisciplinary topics pertaining to legal areas, theories, and philosophy for publishing. The Journal of Law (JL),focuses on community legal education, legal system criticism, social justice and human rights issues, and advancements in alternative practice.

Guidelines and Instructions for Authors

1.      The submission must exhibit originality in thought, critical evaluation, and careful interpretations. Submission of a paper shall be taken to imply that it is an unpublished work and is not being considered for publication elsewhere.

2.      The author(s) must include the cover letter in the body of the mail, which must contain all the relevant biographical details (Name of the author(s), their degrees, Designation, Name of College/University/Institution, Postal Address, Phone Number and Email ID).

3.      Language of the paper shall be either Bangla or English and should be extended to maximum 10,000 words excluding notes and references.

4.  The English font must be Times New Roman with 12 size, be spaced at least 1.5 and the paper written in Bangla shall be in 14 font size and spaced at least 1.5. Printed copies must be typed on one side of A4 size papers with margins 1.5 inch on the left side and 1 inch on the right. Footnotes font must be Times New Roman with 10 fontsize and spaced at least 1.0.

5.  All the sources in the footnotes must be properly cited strictly in accordance with the latest OSCOLA (4thedition) format(may visit the website/linkhttp://www.law.ox.ac.uk/sites/files/oxlaw/oscola_4th_edn_hart_2012.pdf. No endnotes or speaking footnotes (descriptive footnotes) are allowed.

6.  Editors’ decision shall be final and binding. They reserve the sole rights to the publication of the selected articles in addition to; inter alia, any edits/amends/reproduction. The contributions presented to and accepted for publication and the copyrights therein shall be the intellectual property of the Journal Committee, Faculty of Law, BSMRSTU, Gopalganj.

General Submission Guidelines

1.  The submissions may be on any contemporary legal issue. The authors are expected to adhere to the prescribed word limit (excluding footnotes and abstract), as indicated above.

2.      Each of these entries shall be required to conform to the set of guidelines that follow.

3.      An abstract of about 150-250 words and 5 keywords should be mandatorily included in the same word document as a part of the submission.

4.      The title should be Bold, Underlined, in Capitals, Size 16, and Centre Aligned.

5.      Headings should be Bold, in Capitals, Size 14, and left-aligned.

6.      The contents should in no way, directly or indirectly, indicate or reference the identity of the author(s).

7.      Co-authorship to a maximum of two members is allowed. However, co-authorship is not allowed in “book reviews” and “case notes/comments”.

8.      Please note that all submissions must adhere to a strict plagiarism limit of 20%, as any papers exceeding this threshold will be automatically rejected.

Submission Procedure

a.      The submissions may be emailed at editor.jl@bsmrstu.edu.bd  in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

b.      The name of the attached submission in the email, i.e., the name of the document must be the name(s) of the author(s).Not more than two papers of an author, as the first author or as a co-author whatever the case may be, shall be considered for publication process for the same issue. However, if any author submits more than one paper, as the single author of each paper, for a single issue only the paper received first shall be considered for review.

c.       The subject title for the mail must be ‘Article/Essay/Case Comment/Book Review for Volume I (for 2024).

The paper(s) must be sent in hard copy and soft copy to the Journal's Chief Editor, Dr. Md. RaziurRahman, by August 22, 2024. Please feel free to contact the Editor with any queriesyou may have.
